Our latest Adventurous-Her trip was truly life-changing! Kara set out on a 10 day adventure exploring the cities of Oslo and Tromso, Norway.
Our intimate group of like-minded women had experiences that we will all remember for the rest of our lives. In Oslo, we went on a sledding adventure through the woods and down a mountain where a local tram picked us up at the bottom of the hill to sled down over and over again. We explored the local cafes, indulged in delicious coffee and pastries, ate local seafood and walked all over city (which also has the best public transportation in the world.) We stayed at a beautiful and cozy house on a peninsula in the middle of the Oslo Fjord and warmed up by the fire every evening.
Half way through our trip, we flew up to Tromso in the arctic circle and continued our Norway adventure. Our beautiful, modern house, with views out over the frozen bay, was the perfect place to view the magical Northern Lights (which we saw right above our house every single night) and our host provided a list of local cafes and bars that we enjoyed exploring. We spent a day at the indigenous reindeer farm, fed the hundreds of pregnant female reindeer, ate authentic reindeer stew, sat on reindeer hides while we experienced the songs of the indigenous people and bonded through the shared pain of freezing cold feet.
More than just “what we did” were the experiences we had with each other. We truly bonded over shared life stories of loss, pain, joy, grief, love and our own personal adventures. We encouraged each other to get out of our comfort zones (which may have included fully participating in the nudity at the local spa) and grew together as we set out on new adventures every day.
By the end of our trip, it was hard to say goodbye. We all had experiences that truly changes us, learned from the Norwegian culture, from the trials of traveling abroad and from the shared wisdom gained as adventurous women living in today’s world.
